In the 10th Canto Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in the first three chapters there is a description of the Appearance of Bhagavan Sri Krishna. In morning time, we have read from the 10th Canto, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam in English translation of our revered spiritual master Śrī Śrīmad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupad Mahārāja.
In that way, in the evening time, Advaita Acārya Prabhu, we also read those three chapters and we spoke in the oriya language.
In Hari-vamsa, there is also a description on the Appearance of Krishna. In Gopala-campū, written by Śrī Jiva Gosvāmi, there is also description of the Appearance of Krishna. What I say, I will recite Gopalā-campū and I have to speak into two languages - first in Oriya then in English, in this way I will go on.
So I request one and all to sit patiently, quietly, and hear with concentrated attention because the hearing of this transcendental līlā-kahānī of Bhagavān Krishna is all-auspicious.
śṛṇvatām sva-kathāḥ kṛṣṇaḥ punya-śravaṇa-kirtanaḥ hrdy antaḥ stho hy abhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛt satām
Bhāgavata says, to hear the transcendental līlā-kahānī of Bhagavan Krishna is all auspicious, and if you hear, putting full faith with concentrated attention, all the contaminations, material contaminations there in your heart will be clearned up your heart will be purified.
No other means there. Therefore Bhagavan Sri Krishna descends here though Bhagavān Krishna has his eternal abode in the spiritual sky known as sac-cid-ānanda maya dhāma. San-moy, cin-moy, ananda-moy dhāma is full of eternality, full of knowledge and full of blissfulness. He is always engaged there, completely absorbed there in this transcendental lilā, especially rasa-līlā. He enjoys and He relishes the mellow.
Why He comes here to this material world which is not a dhāma. It is completely opposite to the transcendental dhama sac-cid-ānanda moy dhāma. This material world is asat, acit, nirānanda moya. It is temporary, full of ignorance, full of miseries. Why will He come here? What business He has? Because suhrdaṁ sarva bhūtānāṁ - He is the only well-wishing friend of all living entities.
He has said that thing in Bhagavad-gītā - you have forgotten Krishna from time immemorial and you are under the clutches of māyā. But Krishna has not forgotten you because He is your well-wishing friend. He always runs behind you. He is there in your heart as Paramātmā, He never deserts you. And He descends here in this material world with His dhāma, with His associates, in many forms, many incarnations He descends also and manifests these transcendental lilās.
The purpose is this will be recorded.
The lila-kahānīs will be recorded in books, and His dear devotees, sādhus, Vaiṣṇavas, mahājanas, they will come, they will recite and speak, preach. It should be heard, this should be read, this should be meditated, should be deliberated upon thereby you will get peacefulness and blissfulness. Your heart will be cleansed up, you can understand what is your constitutional position. Your constitutional position is to be eternal servant of the Lord, Krishna. Krishna is the eternal master, and also, Krishna comes here kṛdartha, to play with His devotees, dear devotees, to relish His līlā-rasa, the mellow of transcendental lilā. And in addition, He also gives you an opportunity to relish it also. Moreover, He also comes here, sādhu-rakṣaṇa, to protect His dear devotees. That's His purpose.
So now I will read from Gopāla-campū.
This is in a nice song form. I will sing. I want you to follow it with me. This is nice to sing it.

Snigdhakantha bole "bhai, hare kibā haila? ei dhārabāre saba katha khule ra'la"
I will speak in English. In Gopala-campū, it is described, there are two poets named Snigdhakantha and Madhukantha. Daily, they sing songs in the assembly of Nanda.
One day, they started singing how Nandarāj got His son. Nandarāj performed many sacrifices, still son was not born. All the residents of Vrajabhūmi, all his friends, all also took up some vow, some vrata, offered some worship for Nanda Mahārāja to have a son.
Still, no son was coming. Yaśomāti, the wife of Nanda Mahārāja, was very much distressed. She gave up eating. Always sitting, hanging down her face, only shedding tears, crying.
Seeing this condition of his wife, Nanda Mahārāja became very much distressed, consoled her various ways what is the will of Providence, that will take place. His wife, Yasoda-mātā, said, "My dear husband, I will tell what I thought of in my heart.
I performed many sacrifices, took up many vows, vrata, but I have not done dvādaśī-parama-vrata."
Hearing this, Nanda Mahārāja said, became very happy and said:
"Yes, very good. We have not done so. So we must do."
Nanda Mahārāja called his priest. From him, he heard what is the procedure - rules and regulation for this dvādaśī-vrata. he priest said everything then they decided, "We should observe this vrata, take up this vrata."
Then Madhukantha said:

asi bale snigdhakantha "are, kibā aila?" madhukantha tabe kathā ārambha karila
So I will speak in English. Nanda Mahārāja and Yaśomati rāṇī, they took up this vrata, observed it for one year. So at the end of vrata, Nanda Mahārāja saw a very nice dream Lord Hari Himself, very being much pleased, was saying that, "your desires will be very soon fulfilled. In every kalpa, I come as your son and in this kalpa also I will come as your son. This is truth.
I will manifest My babyhood līlā in your gṛha." Understand, grha? "Every day you will see and you will be very happy."
Nanda Mahārāja saw this nice, very good dream then sleep broke, it was morning, birds were chirping. Nanda Mahārāja thought of to go to take bath in Yamuna with his wife Yaśomati. Both Nanda and Yaśomati came to Yamunā to take bath. Nanda Mahārāja also took much wealth to give in charity. All the demigods, munis, ṛsis, they all came in the guise of beggars to get charity from Nanda Mahārāja. Nanda Mahārāja and his wife Yaśomati took bath then they started giving charity. All became very much satisfied and pleased getting charity from Nanda Mahārāja.
All of them very loudly shouted:
Nanda Mahārāja Ki Jay! Yaśomati-rāṇī Ki Jay! Nanda Mahārāja came back home and offered worship to Bhagavan Viṣṇu. Finishing his daily activities, nitya-karma, he came to the assembly, and also he offered respect to gurus, brahmins, those who are worshipable, respectable personalities. After that, again Singdhakantha asked what has happened then. Then he started to sing :
rāja-darabāre nanda yakhana vasila dvārī kahe "rājā! dvāre tapasvī āila
sange brahmacārī hay sundara darśana brahmacāriņi sange ati manorama"

śire hatha diyā kare subha aśirvāda śuni' gopa-gopi kare 'jaya jaya' nāḍa
Nandarāṇī ki jaya! Yaśomati-rāṇī ki jaya!
I will speak in English. The gate-keeper came and informed that one tapasi one brahmacārīṇī had come, and with her a brahmacārī was there. Hearing this, Nanda Mahārāja stood up form his asana, seat, welcomed the brahmacārī and brahmacārīṇī tapasī.
Three of them seated on nice seats.
Nanda Mahārāja washed their feet, offered worship. Then Yasoda-mātā cried at the feet of that brahmacārīṇī tapasī. That tapasi took up Yasoda-mātā onto her lap and putting her hand on the head of Yasoda-mātā, blessed her, said:
"My dear queen, very shortly a nice son will be coming and take birth."
Hearing all these things, all gopa-gopis, cowherd men and cowherd women said:
Nandarāņi Ki jay!
They said, 'jay! jay!'

Bhadra Kṛṣṇa janmāṣṭāmī tithi ki jaya! Kṛṣṇa avirbhāva tithi ki jaya!!
So then, hearing this, Upananda became very joyful and said, This Gokula-vana will be a mahā-tirtha."
Hearing this prophecy, all the inhabitants of Vrajabhumi were very happy, joyful. All came and paid dandavat praṇāma at the feet of that Yogini, brahmacārīṇī. They made a kutir, cottage, for that Yogini. Understand, Yogini? brahmacāriņi, tapasī. She stayed there.
Then Snigdhakantha asked, "My dear brother Madhukantha, now you tell how Krishna came in the womb of Yasodāmātā." Madhukantha then spoke all confidential truth.
For one year continuously Nanda and his wife Yaśomati that dvadaśī Vrata hey observed. Magha māśa, month of Magha, kṛṣṇa-pratipada, first of dark fortnight of the month of Magha, that night Nanda Mahārāja saw a very good dream. He saw a baby child is moving, nila-varna, blue child moving in the sky and a girl with a bodily completion of golden hue. Also, surrounding, in this dream he saw, after that, the two of them entered into the heart of Nanda Mahārāja then blissfulness, both of them stayed there in the heart of Nanda Mahārāja.
Then they came out from the heart of Nanda Mahārāja and entered into the womb of Yasoda-mātā. Nanda Mahārāja saw this thing in the dream. In this way, Yasoda-mātā pregnancy, pregnancy of Yasoda-mātā. Seeing this, all gopa-gopis were very blissful, happy. Everyday there was mahotsava, grand festivals. (to devotee) Sleeping? Such grand festivals going on, all were observing, you are sleeping? How it is? What is this? You can't take part?’
Nanda Mahārāja was giving much charity to brahmāņas, Vaisnavas. Some Goddesses were also coming. There, everyday, day and night, who is coming, who is going? Nobody can say. So many are coming, so many are going, nobody can calculate.
In this way, the 8th month pregnancy. After eight month pregnancy, astrologer said, "This month, child will take birth on the eighth month." In this way, this day came, in the month of Bhadra, the eighth day of dark fortnight came, most auspicious tithi.
Bhadra-kṛṣṇāṣṭamī-tithi ki jaya! Janmāṣṭami-tithi ki jaya!
Janmastami-tithi ki jaya!
The nurse said," today the child will take birth," nurse said. You understand? Then the maternity home was prepared:
śighra sūti gṛha eka nirmāna karila puspa malya ādi dei sājhādi rakhila
phulera tāraṇa kaila saba phula sāje uttama uttama dhātrī tāhāte virāje
ethā deva-gana saba ānande mātiyā mrdu-manda vāri varṣe haraṣita haiyā
se divasa kibā sukha gokule haila sukhera samudre yena sakale dubila
kichu nisi saba gopī jāgiyā rahila kṛṣṇera māye pare nidra-gāṭha haila
yena kāle baḍa sukhe yaśodā-sundarī prasadila putra-ratna keha nāhi eḍi
Yasoda-nandana ki jaya! Yasoda-nandana-kṛṣṇa ki jaya!
So this tithi came - Bhadra-kṛṣṇa-aṣṭami, 8th day of dark fortnight in the month of Bhadra, very auspicious day. The nurse said, "The child will be born today."
Immediately home maternity all was prepared, decorated very nicely with garlands, flower garlands were hanging like this, yes.
The gates were also made with various flowers, very good expert nurses came to take care of the mother and child. All the demigods became very joyful in the heavenly planets. Indradev was showering rain, yes, became very joyful. That day, all the Vrajavāsīs, in heavenly planets the demigods, everywhere, all are very, very joyful, blissful. Yes - the Supreme Lord will take birth.
se divasa kiba sukha gokule haila sukhe rasa-samudre yena sakale dubila
That day was such happiness. It is the ocean of happiness. All were drowning as if in the ocean of happiness. Yes.
kichu nisi saba gopi jāgiyā rahila kṛṣṇera māye pare nidra-gāṭha haila
All gopis kept themselves awaken all night but then all fell asleep because of the māyā of Krishna. You understand? kṛṣṇera māyā, understand? So all have been, when the child took birth, all were asleep.
Yaśodāmātā was also asleep. There was no pain at all. Yaśodāmātā had no pain, without pain Yaśodāmātā gave birth to Krishna, the Supreme Personality, putra ratna, that putra, that son is like an unvaluable gem, yes, nilamani, isn't it? Yaśodā-nandana ki jaya!
sei kāle mathurāte devaki garbhete deva-rūpe janme hari iśvara mūrtite

So, when Yasoda-mātā gave birth the child that is Krishna, all were asleep; exactly at that time in Mathura, in the prison-house of Kamsa, Devaki also gave birth a child. Do you understand? Same time. That is described in 10th Canto Bhāgavatam, picture is there.
Lord Hari appeared there in a four-handed form, on His head nice helmet crown was there. Four hands there were: śańkha, cakra, gaḍā, padma conchshell, chakra, club and lotus. kanaka kundala kāne - in the ears there were golden earrings; bright effulgence coming out from His body so though it is dark fortnight, cloudy weather, still, that effulgence coming from the body of Lord Hari, all were illuminated.
Seeing this wonderful child, Devaki, with folded hands, paid obeisances and offered prayer. Vasudeva also immediately took bath. How he took bath in the prison-house? By meditation, in the mind, manasā-snāṇa, and also in his mind he observed a grand festival, the Birth Day, yes, of Lord Hari.
He gave many, many, innumerable charity cows in charity to brahmāṇas and Vaisnavas in his mind, and also he offered prayer to Lord Nārāyaṇa. Then Nārāyaṇa told him "Take Me to Vraja Gokul. Immediately take Me to Vraja Gokul, put Me in the lap of Yasodāmātā." Hearing this, Vasudeva was very, very happy. Immediately he got out from the prison-house of Kamsa by the wonderful will of Lord Hari. Those who were guarding the prison, they all fell asleep. Very strong iron doors, shackles, everything opened, he was free to come out. When he came out, Vasudeva came out from the prison-house of Kamsa, exactly at that time Yasoda-mātā gave birth a girl, daughter, yes. At that time first a son, then a daughter.
When Vasudeva came to the bank of Yamuna, he saw there was high flood in Yamuna. Yes. All land was inoundated; very high flood.
Then he was thinking, "how can I go?"
hena kāle mahāmāyā sṛgālīra veśe yamunäha giyā pāra kahe to harise
tā'ra picche picche jāya vasudeva dhira hena rūpe päilena nandera mandira
yāśodāra kole dila āpanā tanaya yaśodā-nandini niye tale vasu-rāya"
snigdhakantha bale "bhāi, ei kibā kathā nandera putra ki tabe achilo vā katā"
madhukantha bale "bhai, kara avadhāna bada e durgama līlā ei saba jāna yaśodāra kanyā sāksāt yogamāyā nanda-putra pakṣe teho rūpe ācchadiyā
saba viṣṇu-tattve aṁśi nanda-putra haya vasudeva amśa vāsudeva nāme kahe nadi-gaṇa yena mate sāgare milāya sei mata amśa dātā amśite miśāy
yogamāyā śabde vasu ihā nahī jāne ajñāta rahila tāra e saba akhyāne hari bandhu sete jā'che ihāra pramāņa eka kāle dui sthāne janmera ākhyāna
Vasudeva was thinking how to cross the river Yamunā in the high flood. At that time, he saw Mahāmāyā in the form of a she-jackal going, you understand, crossing Yamunā.
So Vasudeva followed her. Yes. "A she-jackle is going, I was thinking how to go.." So in this way he came to Nanda Mahārāja's quarters. There he kept, put his own son in the lap of Yaśodā-mātā and took the daughter of Yasoda with him.
Hearing this, Singdhakantha said, What is this? Yasoda-mātā gave birth to one son and one daughter, Vasudeva took the daughter. Where is the son?"
Madhukantha said, "Alright, you see, this is very confidential matter. The son that Yasoda-mātā gave birth to, was the sākṣad of Yogamāyā. Therefore that Yogamāyā covered, kept Nanda putra, the son of Nanda covered, kept Him covered. Therefore Vasudeva could not see the son of Nanda, you understand?
Only he saw the daughter. So the son of Nanda Mahārāja, Nanda-nandana, Yasoda-nandana, svayam bhagavan, bhagavan svayam.
ete cāṁśa-kalāḥ puṁsaḥ kṛṣṇas tu bhagavān svayam
Isn't it? Krishna, Nanda-nandana Krishna, Yasoda-nandana is svayam bhagavān. So all avatāras, they are the plenary portions, portion of the portion's portions amśa and kāla. /hen Krishna comes, svayam bhagavan Krishna comes, svayam bhagavān comes, all His portion of portion of the portion, amsa-kāla, all come, all are there in Him, yes.
The son of Vasudeva is Vasudeva, four-handed form. Vasudeva is plenary portion of Krishna, yes. So when Vasudeva put his son in the lap of Yasoda, that Vasudeva entered into Krishna, you understand, because Vasudeva is a plenary portion of Krishna. Understand?
As the rivers flow and enter into sea, ocean, similarly, all the plenary portion of portion's of portion come and enter into the amsi, that is svayam bhagavān. Alright? This is the activity of Yogamāyā therefore Vasudeva could not know all these things. It was unknown to Vasudeva.
In Hari-vamsa, description is there how simultaneously, in two places, Lord Hari took birth. In Hari-vaṁśa it is mentioned,
garbha kāle tv asampūrṇe aṣṭame māsi te striyau devaki ca yaśodā ca suṣubāte samaṁ tadā
In Hari-vamsa it is mentioned that, at the eighth month of pregnancy, generally I is tenth month but eighth month in complete. In the eighth month, both Yasoda and Devaki gave birth to Lord Hari. Understand?
After that, Yasoda gave birth to one daughter, she is known as Yogamāyā. With Yogamāyā, Mahāmāyā was also born. Vasudeva took Mahāmāyā. Yogamāyā stayed in Vrajabhūmi.
So Vasudeva took Mahāmāyā and handed it over to Kamsa. It was declared that this eighth womb, a daughter had come, not a son. Kamsa was cheated in this way. Yasoda-nandana, son of Yasodāmātā, is svayam bhagavan, the same Lord Hari, sakṣād bhagavān.
From the womb of Devaki came Vasudeva, four-headed form, He is prabhāva-prakāśa of Krishna. Alright? Prabhāva/vaibhāva, two types.
You don't know all these things, prabhāva/vaibhāva? Why? Why are you not knowing these things? Are you not reading?
Generally, in two ways, prabhāva and vaibhava Lord Krishna expanses. prabhāva-prakāśa, vaibhava-vilāsa. two categories: one is temporary, one is eternal.
Prabhāva-vilāsa temporary category come: Mohini, Hamsa, Sukla, all incarnations.
From the eternal category come: Dhanvantari, Rṣabha, Vyāsa, Dattatreya, Kapila, etc...
Vaibhava-prakāśa are particially powerful. In this category come: Kurma, Matsya, Nara- Nārāyaṇa Rṣi, Varaha, Hayagrīva, Prśnigarbha, Baladeva, Yajña, Vibhu, Satyasena, Hari, Vaikuntha, Ajita, Vāmana, Sarvabhauma, Rṣabha, Visvaksena, Dharmasetu, Sudāmā, Yogeśvara, Bṛhadbhānu, etc....
These are vaibhava. You understand? Yes.
snigdhakantha bole "bhai, nandotsava-kathā uttama rūpete hetha bolibe sarvathā"
madhukantha bole "tabe kara avadhāna kṛṣṇa prasadera katha nahila sandhāna
sabe nidrā sukhe sārā nisi goaila para vāta kāla krame āsi' dekha dila
tabe līlā kari hari kānde uccha-svare lāge sighra yaśomati mudita antare"
Then Snigdhakantha told the story of Nandotsava or Nanda Mahārāja's festival. Madhukantha then told all were asleep and Yaśodāmātā gave birth to Krishna. All night, all were asleep and the morning then it was morning, at that time, Lord Hari started crying 'kwaa kwaa kwaa' sound and all were awaken. Yes. Yasodāmatī, Mother Yasoda also awakened and saw her son, nice son.
ekhiyā tānaya yaśomatī māyī sukhera pātāre vāse ki kari ki kari bujhite nā pāre baḍa sukha māne väse
nayaṇe tara jhāruche āghāra stana ha'te jhare khira tava śiśu kole kari yaśomatī bāsichi haiya sthira"
You cannot sing. Seeing this very wonderful, very nice, beautiful son, mother Yasoda completely drowned in the ocean of blissfulness. She could not think of what to do. She was shedding the tears of love, blissfulness, and from her breasts milk was also flowing. The newborn child was there on her lap. Yasoda was looking at, very blissful.

Yaśodāmātā was joyful, blissful; her voice was faltering, could not speak anything. Shedding tears of love. Up until that day, she was looking at other's son, today she was looking her own son. Tears coming down form her eyes and milk flowing from her breasts. All her sari was completely soaked, wet.
Again and again, Yaśodāmātā was looking at the beautiful lotus-like, moon-like face of her son. All the nurses, all the gopa-gopis, all became awakened hearing that sound, crying of the newborn child. All came and said, "Oh, it is not daughter, it is a son! Yasodāmātā has given birth to a son!" All were very happy.
That blissful as if all of Gokula, Vrajabhūmi, was drowned in the ocean of blissfulness, yes, to see the newborn son of Yasoda. All gopa-gopis came, running to Nanda Mahārāja's quarters. The demigods were dancing there from the heavenly planets and beating the drums, kettledrums.
All were saying, "Hari-Hari-bol...... Haribol!"
The fourteen planetary systems resounded with 'Haribol'!

Prthivi-devi was very, very distressed, overburdened by the heavy burden of the asuras, demons. Now demons will be killed. Prthivi-devi will be, Mother Earth will be relieved from the heavy burden. Sadhus, Vaisnavas, dvijas, brāhmaṇas, Vaisnavas, they were all happy.
