Grantha-rāja Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam kī jaya!
Now let us come to the text …
oṁ namo bhagavate vāsudevāya
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Fourth Canto Chapter thirteen Text forty-one
ākrīḍe krīḍato bālān
vayasyān atidāruṇaḥ
prasahya niranukrośaḥ
paśu-māram amārayat
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.13.41)
Translation by Śrīla Prabhupāda:
The boy was so cruel that while playing with young boys of his age he would kill them very mercilessly, as if they were animals meant for slaughter.
He was so merciless and cruel. Why he became so merciless and killing his play friends like he would slaughter animals?
Text forty-two:
taṁ vicakṣya khalaṁ putraṁ
śāsanair vividhair nṛpaḥ
yadā na śāsituṁ kalpo
bhṛśam āsīt sudurmanāḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.13.42)
Translation by Śrīla Prabhupāda:
After seeing the cruel and merciless behaviour of his son Vena, King Aṅga punished him in different ways to reform him, but he was unable to bring him to the path of gentleness. He thus became greatly aggrieved.
Yes, better having no son than having such a bad son.
Next verse; forty-three.
prāyeṇābhyarcito devo
ye ’prajā gṛha-medhinaḥ
kad-apatya-bhṛtaṁ duḥkhaṁ
ye na vindanti durbharam
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.13.43)
Translation by Śrīla Prabhupāda:
The King thought to himself: Persons who have no sons are certainly fortunate, they must have worshiped the Lord in their previous lives so that they would not have to suffer the unbearable unhappiness caused by a bad son.
Better not to have a son than to have a bad son. You will suffer so much. That's a fact.
Next verse.
yataḥ pāpīyasī kīrtir
adharmaś ca mahān nṛṇām
yato virodhaḥ sarveṣāṁ
yata ādhir anantakaḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.13.44)
Translation by Śrīla Prabhupāda:
A sinful son causes a person's reputation to vanish. His irreligious activities at home cause irreligion and quarrel among everyone, and this creates only endless anxiety.
Purport by Śrīla Prabhupāda:
It is said that a married couple must have a son, otherwise their family life is void. But a son born without good qualities is as good as a blind eye. A blind eye has no use for seeing, but it is simply unbearably painful. The King therefore thought himself very unfortunate to have such a bad son like, Vena who was killing his playmates mercilessly like slaughtered animals.
Why? The question comes: Why a man becomes cruel? What makes him to become cruel? That is the question. And who becomes cruel? And what makes him become cruel?
- Envy
Yes, why he becomes envious? A person who is devoid of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is cruel. Therefore the human birth is durlabha mānava-janma, rarely achieved birth. The purpose of this birth is to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Otherwise what is the value of human birth.
If lions, tigers eating, killing animals, eating their flesh and they become human beings? But opportunity is given now when they get human body to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Their intelligence can understand this thing, they will make endeavor. opportunity has been available now. I have gotten such birth. I must develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
Otherwise the person who doesn't understand this thing and never makes any endeavor to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, in other words, to develop pure bhakti, to understand Kṛṣṇa, his human life is spoiled. It's no better than animal life.
Animals are eating flesh, he is eating flesh. So much so like a lion and tiger. King Vena is like that, slaughtering animals, devoid of good qualities, no mercy, such cruelty. So Mahāprabhu came and brought this Holy Name.
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma rāma rāma hare hare
prabhu bale,—“kahilāṅa ei mahā-mantra
ihā japa’ giyā sabe kariyā nirbandha
ihā haite sarva-siddhi haibe sabāra
sarva-kṣaṇa bala’ ithe vidhi nāhi āra
(Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 23.76-78)
He is such merciful, wonderfully merciful. He knows that Kali-yuga people cannot do anything. They have very short span of life, there consciousness is very, very degraded, like covered consciousness or shrunken consciousness - consciousness of, animal consciousness.
Bodily consciousness means animal consciousness. The animals know the body. They don’t know anything but their body and the bodily demands, that is - eating, sleeping, defending and mating. Yes, these are the demands of this material body. And if a person, a human being thinks, “Oh, the goal of my life is to make nice arrangements of eating, sleeping, defending and mating. That is the be all and end all of my life.”
But he doesn't know the goal of life is to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, to have paramārtha, kṛṣṇa-bhakti, thereby to understand Kṛṣṇa, see Kṛṣṇa, and get Kṛṣṇa. If he doesn't know, then he is leading animal life. Animals, they eat, they sleep, they know what is their food, what to eat, where to sleep, defending. How they defend themselves? some animals have horns, some of them have sharp claws, some animals have sharp teeth. They have these for defending. And they know enjoying sex.
So eating, sleeping, defending and mating - animals, that is paśu-dharma, animal dharma. It is not mānava-dharma, human dharma. Mānava jīvana, human life is meant for developing complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and there is a dharma for human beings, that is bhāgavata-dharma, to cultivate bhāgavata-dharma. Therefore Bhagavān comes and speaks about dharma-tattva,
ye vai bhagavatā proktā
upāyā hy ātma-labdhaye
añjaḥ puṁsām aviduṣāṁ
viddhi bhāgavatān hi tān
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 11.2.34)
Eleventh Canto Bhāgavata. What is bhāgavata-dharma? Ye vai bhagavatā proktā: what Bhagavān has said. Dharma, nīti, religious principles are enunciated by Bhagavān.
dharmaṁ tu sākṣād bhagavat-praṇītaṁ
na vai vidur ṛṣayo nāpi devāḥ
na siddha-mukhyā asurā manuṣyāḥ
kuto nu vidyādhara-cāraṇādayaḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.3.19)
“Real religious principles are enacted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Although fully situated in the mode of goodness, even then the great ṛṣis, who occupy the topmost planets cannot ascertain the real religious principles, nor can the demigods or the leaders of siddha-loka, to say nothing of the asuras, ordinary human beings, Vidyādharas and Cāraṇas.” Nobody has enunciated, only bhagavat-praṇitam. That is known as bhāgavata-dharma. That dharma-nītī has been spoken in Bhāgavatam and in Gītā.
sarva-dharmān parityajya
mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja
(Bhagavad-gītā 18.66)
That is dharma-nītī: “Abandon all varieties of dharma, just surrender unto Me”, Kṛṣṇa has said. That is the only one dharma for human society. No other dharma.
Bhāgavata says, what Bhagavān has said:
dharma-mūlaṁ hi bhagavān
sarva-vedamayo hariḥ
smṛtaṁ ca tad-vidāṁ rājan
yena cātmā prasīdati
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.11.7)
The root of all religious principles, dharma-mūlaṁ hi bhagavān sarva-vedamayo hariḥ - Bhagavān Hari is the root of all religious principles.
“... and the memory of great authorities. O King Yudhiṣṭhira, this principle of religion is to be understood as evidence. On the basis of this religious principle, everything is satisfied, including one's mind, soul and even one's body.”
This is bhāgavata-dharma. Again you will find in Sixth Canto, 6.3.22:
etāvān eva loke ’smin
puṁsāṁ dharmaḥ paraḥ smṛtaḥ
bhakti-yogo bhagavati
tan-nāma-grahaṇādibhiḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.3.22)
“Devotional service, beginning with the chanting of the holy Name of the Lord is the ultimate religious principle for human society.” And Mahāprabhu brought it - just chant Hare Kṛṣṇa!
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare
You Kali-yuga people cannot do any other sādhana, just chant ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’.
ihā haite sarva-siddhi haibe sabāra
sarva-kṣaṇa bala’ ithe vidhi nāhi āra
(Śrī Caitanya-bhāgavata Madhya-khaṇḍa 23.78)
Mahāprabhu's order. You will achieve all perfection if you chant ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’, putting full faith in the Holy Name, complete faith, unflinching faith, sarva-siddhi haibe sabāra sarva-kṣaṇa, you will achieve all perfection and supreme perfection. Sarva-kṣaṇa bala’ ithe vidhi nāhi āra. No rules and regulations, no birth, any place, any time, any circumstances, any condition, you may chant:
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma rāma rāma hare hare
Mahāprabhu is Supreme Personality of Godhead, he is so merciful, he brought this, this is the only dharma, this is nitya-dharma, parā-dharma, it is eternal dharma and supreme dharma for all human society. This is bhāgavata-dharma. This bhāgavata prokta is what Bhagavān has said, dharma-nīti that is dharma. That bhāgavata-dharma is meant for human society. A human being who doesn't cultivate bhāgavata-dharma, he cultivates paśu-dharma, who only runs behind eating, sleeping, defending, mating. “How I can make nice arrangement of eating, nice arrangement of sleeping; skyscraper building and electric connection, A.C. connection, nice bed, soft bed, cushion that I can sleep, snore nicely.”
Make nice arrangement for sleeping, eating, sleeping, defending. Then these material scientists, they are abusing this atomic energy, that is Kṛṣṇa’s energy which is meant for to be utilized for the benefit of the human society. It is not for the destruction of the human society. But they abuse it, producing, manufacturing such powerful atomic bombs, and all are afraid. All is just situated on the brink of destruction. Any moment it will be destroyed. They don't know. They are making such for the defense, doing such thing, eating, sleeping, defending and mating - how mating? How to nicely enjoy sex, making so many arrangements, everyday discovering, such wonderful discoveries, wonderful inventions going on.
And then they are afraid of, “Oh, population is increasing, increasing, increasing!” Then there is deficiency of foodstuff, problem coming -so no more increasing population, but we will enjoy sex but produce no child. What to do? Then they manufacture so many things, Contraceptives. This is going on. That means, is it mānava-dharma? They don't understand what is dharma for us! This paśu-dharma, an animal does -- eating, sleeping, defending and mating.
Even a worm in the stool does so! He enjoys sex. And if you do like that, kṛmīṇāṁ kiyad antaram (Sb. 11.26.21), what is the difference between yourself and a worm in the stool?
For you, this dharma has come, chanting:
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma rāma rāma hare hare
Again you will find what is bhāgavata-dharma in the Seventh Canto, 7.7.29-33.

(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.29-33)
This is bhāgavata-dharma - tatropāya-sahasrāṇām. This is beginning with the twenty-ninth verse and goes up to thirty-third. Read translation.
“Of the different processes recommended for disentanglement from material life, the one personally explained and accepted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead should be considered all-perfect. That process is the performance of duties by which love for the Supreme Lord develops."
Love for the Supreme Lord - that is the purpose of the human birth. And Mahāprabhu gives that love by chanting 'Hare Kṛṣṇa'. Mukhya-pathe jīva pāya kṛṣṇa-prema-dhana (Śri Hari-nāma-cintāmanī 1.78) - the chief result of chanting 'Hare Kṛṣṇa' is to get kṛṣṇa-prema. If somebody will develop kṛṣṇa-prema, complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Gītā says, 'What is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness?’
What Kṛṣṇa said in Bhagavad-gītā?
yo māṁ paśyati sarvatra
sarvaṁ ca mayi paśyati
tasyāhaṁ na praṇaśyāmi
sa ca me na praṇaśyati
(Bhagavad-gītā 6.30)
This is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness – Kṛṣṇa says, “One who sees Me everywhere and sees everything in Me, he is not out of My sight, I am not out of his sight. He sees Me, I see him.” This is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
To see Kṛṣṇa everywhere and see everything in Kṛṣṇa means to see kṛṣṇa-sambandha, relationship of Kṛṣṇa. Everybody, every jīva, everything, whatever you see and find, is related to Kṛṣṇa. It is all Kṛṣṇa's. That is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So every jīva is related to Kṛṣṇa and Kṛṣṇa is the object of love. Mahāprabhu gives that love through chanting ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’. Then one who develops complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he has such vision: when he sees a jīva suffering because of lacking Kṛṣṇa consciousness, devoid of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, because of ignorance, deep darkness…
Ignorance means andha, andhakāra, darkness, ajñānatā, isn't it, devoid of true knowledge, then his heart bleeds. “O Kṛṣṇa’s jīva is suffering! Kṛṣṇa, who is the object of my life...”
So he goes out and preaches the science of Kṛṣṇa consciousness: “Let me go and inculcate Kṛṣṇa consciousness, then he can understand who is he and what is the goal of life, then no more suffering. This should be his last birth here.” He goes out and preaches, that is a Kṛṣṇa conscious person, vaiṣṇava. His heart bleeds. Who sees the kṛṣṇa-sambandha, how he will be envious? How will he kill a jīva? “He is Kṛṣṇa’s, who is the object of my love.”
Who can develop love for Kṛṣṇa, only he can love one and all. Otherwise no question of love at all. Therefore, he is a vaisnava. Vaiṣṇava-ācāra: nāme ruci, jīve dayā - vaiṣṇava-ācāra. He develops taste for holy name because nectarean mellow is emanating. He tastes this and distributes taste, “You taste, you taste!” Mahāprabhu tasted and distributed! And, he sees kṛṣṇa-sambandha, Kṛṣṇa’s jīva. How can he kill him mercilessly? How can he become envious? One who develops complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, “he is Kṛṣṇa’s jīva and Kṛṣṇa is the object of my love'. This question of love comes. Unless one develops complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, this cannot be stopped. This is going on in this material world.
Jīvo jīvasya jīvanam (Sb. 1.13.47) - one jīva is another jīva’s food, One jīva is food for another jīva. How it will be stopped? An animal cannot do it because he is animal. He has a very degraded consciousness; he cannot understand this science of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. But a human being can. It is meant for human society because you have gotten such opportunity to elevate your level of consciousness.
That is the highest level of consciousness, that is the completely blossomed consciousness - that is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. There are five levels of consciousness. All eighty-four lakhs of species come
under five levels of consciousness.
That is: āvṛta-cetanā, saṅkucita-cetanā, mukulita-cetanā, vikacita-cetanā, pūrṇa-vikacita-cetanā. Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura, vaiṣṇava ācārya, says in Śrī Caitanya-śikṣāmṛta. This is a science, This is a spiritual science, a question of science of consciousness.
Sajīva, nirjīva - two types are there. Some are animate, some are inanimate. This mic is inanimate, no consciousness. Animate being means consciousness is there. Jīva is a conscious being, he has consciousness. And there are five levels of consciousness: covered consciousness, shrunken consciousness, budding consciousness, blossoming consciousness, completely blossomed consciousness - in other words, that is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
There are five levels of consciousness. All eighty-four lakhs of species, they come under five levels of consciousness. There are eighty lakhs of other species, other than human beings. They all come under two levels of consciousness - that is covered consciousness and shrunken consciousness. And their level of consciousness cannot be raised at all, no opportunity is available to them. Only it is available for human beings therefore human birth is considered a rarely achieved birth, durlabhaṁ mānuṣaṁ janma.
Catur lakṣāni mānava, Padma Purāṇa says. There are four lakhs types of human beings. How is it? Form is same: two hands, two legs, one head, two ears, two eyes and nose. These, all forms are same. How it is that four lakhs types of human beings? It is a question of the development of consciousness. The levels of consciousness of all human beings are not same. You say, “We all have same right!” Oh, we have same right? You have not developed your consciousness to the highest level of consciousness, how you demand same right? All human beings come under three levels of consciousness.
That is: budding consciousness, blossoming consciousness, and completely blossomed consciousness. The highest level of consciousness is completely blossomed consciousness, that's complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And that opportunity is available to you. You can raise your level of your consciousness to the highest level of consciousness, that is complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Therefore the Founder-Ācārya of ISKCON, Śrī Śrimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda Mahārāja named this Society: The Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness. Why didn't he give some other name? It is very significant. This is Kṛṣṇa Consciousness. This is very significant.
Why he named this? Many were saying, “No, why we add 'Kṛṣṇa '? Better make God Consciousness.” But he didn't, he said, “No! This is Kṛṣṇa Consciousness.” He knows, because this human birth is meant for that: to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. That is the goal of human birth. That is the highest level of consciousness. This opportunity is available in this very human birth; it is not available in any other birth. So he formed such a society, that is, his words: Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness.
This is the society of vaiṣṇavas. We give training here how to develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Yes. Then you make your human birth perfect, successful birth; no more come again here; go back home, back to Godhead in this very birth! You can develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. This is significant. Who is fortunate will come and join this Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, and such training is imparted here, he will get such training, become well trained and develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness in this birth. Then his human birth is successful. He achieves perfection, supreme perfection. He will go back home, back to Godhead. No more birth again. And this is his own words, “This is a Society where there is no envy!”
“Of course, it is not easy that everybody will develop Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Still I have formed such a society, the Society for Kṛṣṇa Consciousness of vaisnavas. This will be an exemplary society where there is no envy at all.” These are his words. Now it is your duty - you develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, become pure, pakkā vaiṣṇava, pakkā sādhu. Who is pakkā vaiṣṇava, pakkā sādhu, he is non-envious - parama nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ vedyam (SB 1.1.2).
Who can understand Bhāgavata, bhāgavata-dharma-tattva?
dharmaḥ projjhita-kaitavo ’tra
paramo nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ vedyaṁ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.1.2)
The second verse of the Bhāgavata says: those who are, parama nirmatsarāṇāṁ satāṁ vedyaṁ, those who are vaiṣṇavas, nirmatsarā - not envious. This is the Society of Kṛṣṇa Consciousness, exemplary society where there will be no envy! Why enviousness?
This is the centennial year. Yes. This is the duty to make this Society ideal, an exemplary Society where there is no envy at all. Then he will be very happy. That is the real centennial celebration. He will be pleased, yes. “My, those disciples there, grand-disciples there, they are doing nice, fulfilling my purpose: making this Society an ideal Society where there is no envy, a society of vaiṣṇavas.”
When someone will come and join, if good fortune arises, such training is imparted here, then he can develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness. In this very birth he will go back home, back to Godhead.
Otherwise, the material world only hiṁsā, enviousness, killing is there. Vena was such mercilessly killing his playmates like slaughtered animals. It's going on. Bhāgavata First Canto, 1.13.47 verse says:
ahastāni sahastānām
apadāni catuṣ-padām
phalgūni tatra mahatāṁ
jīvo jīvasya jīvanam
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.13.47)
“Those who are devoid of hands are prey for those who have hands. Those who are devoid of legs are prey for the four legged. The weak are the subsistence of the strong and the general rule holds that one living being is food for another.”
One living being is food for another. Only himsa is going on, envious feeling is going on. This is the material world. So how? But in human society, there shouldn't be envy. Human birth is a rarely achieved birth. As long as a human being has not developed complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he cannot give it up this of becoming envious of others: murder, killing, killing is going on. This Kṛṣṇa consciousness is a boon for human society. Therefore he formed this Society for preaching.
In other words, it is meant to save the human society from destruction. Otherwise no other means is there. Therefore a vaisnava goes out and preaches because this is the boon.
So we are reading those verses. You read twenty-ninth verse. Read again.
“Of the different processes recommended for disentanglement from material life, the one personally explained and accepted by the Supreme Personality of Godhead should be considered all-perfect. That process is the performance of duties by which love for the Supreme Lord develops.”
That is love for the Supreme Lord. And Mahāprabhu gives that love by chanting ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’. This is bhāgavata-dharma.
Next verse. Thirtieth.
guru-śuśrūṣayā bhaktyā
sarva-labdhārpaṇena ca
saṅgena sādhu-bhaktānām
īśvarārādhanena ca
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.30)
“One must accept the bona fide spiritual master and render service unto him with great devotion and faith. Whatever one has in one's possession should be offered to the spiritual master. In the association of saintly persons and devotees, one should worship the Lord, hear the glories of the Lord with faith, glorify…”
Hear Bhāgavatam with faith! These are the glories of the Lord. Nitya bhāgavata - daily program.
“...glorify the transcendental qualities and activities of the Lord. Always meditate on the Lord’s lotus feet and worship the deity of the Lord strictly according to the injunctions of the śāstra and guru. One should always remember the Supreme Personality of Godhead in His localized representation as the Paramātmā who is situated in the core of every living entities heart. Thus one should pay respect to every
living entity.”
How he will kill him? Paramātmā is there and he is Kṛṣṇa’s jīva who is the object of my love. Without developing complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness it cannot be stopped at all. It is going on.
“Offer respect to every living entity according to that living entities position and manifestation.”
Then,
evaṁ nirjita-ṣaḍ-vargaiḥ
kriyate bhaktir īśvare
vāsudeve bhagavati
yayā saṁlabhyate ratiḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.33)
“By these activities as mentioned above one is able to cut down the influence of enemies, namely, lust, anger, greed, illusion, madness, and jealousy. And when thus situated one can render service to the Lord. In this way one surely attains the platform of loving service to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.”
This is ātma-dharma, this is bhāgavata-dharma. What Bhagavān says in Gītā and Bhāgavata, that is for human society. Getting a human birth, if one doesn't cultivate bhāgavata-dharma, he is an animal. He is cultivating paśu-dharma: eating, sleeping, defending and mating. No better than an animal, no better than a worm in the stool. Yes. Etāvān eva, 7.7.5. This is Prahlāda Mahārāja's version; mahājana.
etāvān eva loke ’smin
puṁsaḥ svārthaḥ paraḥ smṛtaḥ
ekānta-bhaktir govinde
yat sarvatra tad-īkṣaṇam
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.55)
“In this material world to render service to the lotus feet of Govinda, the Cause of all causes, and to see Him everywhere is the only goal of life."
The only goal to see Him everywhere. How can he see Govinda everywhere unless he develops love for Kṛṣṇa? And Mahāprabhu gives that love through chanting ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’ then he can develop.
bhakta āmā preme
bāndhiyāche hṛdaya-bhitare
yāhāṅ netra paḍe tāhāṅ
dekhaye āmāre
(Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta Madhya-līlā 25.127)
Caitanya-caritāmṛta. Quoting Lord's words, Kavirāja Gosvāmī writes.
bhakta āmā preme
bāndhiyāche hṛdaya-bhitare
yāhāṅ netra paḍe tāhāṅ
dekhaye āmāre
“That premī-bhakta who has developed love for Me, he has bound Me up in his heart by the rope of love. Wherever he looks, he sees Me." That is what Prahlāda Mahārāja said.
Ekānta-bhaktir govinde yat sarvatra tad-īkṣaṇam. This is bhāgavata-dharma. This is the dharma meant for human society. Unless one develops this Kṛṣṇa consciousness, this hiṁsā cannot be stopped. It is going on. Therefore Mahāprabhu gave this dharma by chanting. And He gave regulated principles. What is that? No fish eating, meat eating, no animal killing, no animal killing, no intoxication, no illicit sex, no gambling. These are impediments in cultivating this bhakti-dharma, bhāgavata-dharma. That is discussed in First Canto Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
Parikṣit Mahārāja was ruling the whole world, just in the beginning of Kali-yuga. End of Dvāpara-yuga, beginning of Kali-yuga, Parikṣit Mahārāja was ruling the whole world. He was a great devotee of the Lord.
He was ruling according to the religious principles given in Gītā and Bhāgavata, what Bhagavān has said. Personally he was supervising and seeing that, “Nobody should commit any sinful activity, all should do yajña-karma, all should cultivate bhāgavata-dharma. Nobody should go to hell in my kingdom. Everybody should go to Vaikuṇṭha, go back home, back to Godhead.” That is the duty, he knows.
But time of Kali-yuga has come. Kali-yuga means: age of sinful activity, adharma, Kali means adharma-bandhuḥ, irreligion, pāpa, but Parikṣit Mahārāja ruling was there, nobody is committing pāpa, sinful activity so Kali couldn't get place to stay.
So he was just creating a place, he was beating go-mithuna, a cow and a bull. This is contradictory to
bhāgavata-dharma, go-rakṣana - cows should be protected. Parikṣit Mahārāja was traveling and saw a person doing like that. Then he became angry, kas tvaṁ - “Who are you, doing this thing in my kingdom?”
Karmaṇādvijaḥ, naṭavat karmaṇādvijaḥ (Sb. 1.17.5)! He had put on a royal dress, dress of a kṣatriya, but his activity says, ‘you are a śūdra’. “Do you know, they are my prajā!? I am their protector. How do you think they have no protector?” He drew out his sword to chop off his head, “I will chop off your head!”
Kali-yuga saw, “Oh, he won’t spare me. He wants to chop off…” Then he threw off his garment and said,
“I am Kali-yuga, a śūdra.”
In Kali-yuga, all are śūdras, kalau sarve sūdra-sambhavaḥ (Skanda Purāna) - drinking liquor, killing animals,
illicit sex, intoxication, gambling going on. That makes one merciless, cruel. Slaughter of cow. What you say- ‘Beef people, strong people’. Big, big signboards in the Western world. ‘Beef people, strong people’- those who eat beef, they are very strong! This is Kali-yuga. Liquor shops everywhere! “Come! Cold wine!
Day and night open! Come! Drink, dance, dine!” So? What do you expect from that? They are all animals, they are all cruel, merciless. That makes a man merciless, cruel.
Then he surrendered unto the lotus feet of Parikṣit Mahārāja. That’s duty of a kṣatriya, a king, if someone takes shelter, he shouldn't kill him. Give him shelter.
Then Kali prayed for a place, “Where is my place? I have no place because of your ruling nobody commits
sinful activity. Where is my place.”
abhyarthitas tadā tasmai
sthānāni kalaye dadau
dyūtaṁ pānaṁ striyaḥ sūnā
yatrādharmaś catur-vidhaḥ
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 1.17.38)
Parikṣit Mahārāja gave four places first. “O Kali, these four places, I give you. First is dyūtam. Where there is dyūta kridā, this is gambling. Where there is gambling, that is sinful activity. That is number one place for you.”
This dyūta, gambling, it includes what? Playing cards, playing dice, horse race, lottery. You purchase one dollar lottery ticket, you will get one lakh of dollar, one million. All these come under this gambling. That is sinful activity and it is going on. And government is also doing lottery. So? That means all are committing sinful activity, rampant. That is Kali’s place. One who is a vaiṣṇava, he knows therefore no gambling. He refrain from it. Otherwise you cannot develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, no pure devotion.
Second pāna. Pāna means liquor and smoking, dhūmra-pāna, surā-pāna, liquor, wine, smoking bīḍī, gāñjā,
cigarette - white flute. Big, big advertisements, so many cigarette companies, Tobacco Company. chewing pāna, guṭakhā, tambākū. Tobacco, all these come under this pāna. This is all sorts of intoxicants, it is sinful activity. If somebody becomes addicted to this tambākū, tobacco then he can’t develop his true consciousness, God consciousness. He will develop only animal consciousness.
Those who smoke gāñjā, and those who drink liquor, varieties of liquor, like if you travel in the airplane, they give you the list of liquor available to you, ‘choose what you want’. That is going on, different types of liquor are there. Those who are addicted to these, they become animals. They lose their human consciousness, they develop animal consciousness. They become cruel, merciless. That makes one merciless, cruel. It is going on in Kali-yuga.
And Vena was such a person. He must have been addicted to this liquor, intoxicants, LSD, marijuana, isn’t it, very strong drugs.
So, then illicit sex. What you say, to have sex with other than one’s wife, that is illicit sex; that’s in general. But, with one’s wedded wife, if you develop too much attachment to her, think that ‘she is the object of my enjoyment. She has come for my enjoyment. I am married and she has come to give me enjoyment especially two of my senses - my tongue and genitals’.
Aupasthya-jaihvaṁ bahu-manyamānaḥ (SB 7.6.11). Prahlāda Mahārāja says, aupasthya-jaihvaṁ bahu-manyamānaḥ - aupasthya means genital; jaihva indriya. “She will cook, prepare nice food, palatable dishes, serve me. Yes.”
“How it is? Tasty. I have prepared.”
“Oh, very nice, yes!”
Sitting beside me, fanning, laughing, “My dear husband, taste it.”
Then, giving enjoyment, especially to my genitals.
One who accepts a wife for this purpose, he does illicit sex, yes. That is illicit sex. She is kṛṣṇa-dāsī; she is maidservant of Kṛṣṇa. She is meant to be enjoyed by Kṛṣṇa, not by you. Kṛṣṇa is the only enjoyer. You should understand that you are not enjoyer. She is meant to be enjoyed by Kṛṣṇa - kṛṣṇa-dāsī. She is vaiṣṇavī. One should be vaiṣṇava, one should be vaiṣṇavī, both husband and wife should engage in rendering loving service to Kṛṣṇa and giving Kṛṣṇa all enjoyment, all pleasure. They should not be engaged in giving pleasure to their own senses. Then they will do illicit sex. That is illicit sex. One should refrain from it.
Gaura Kiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja was there. So, he had a follower named Śambhu Bābū. So once Śambhu Bābū came to meet him, have his darśana. He paid obeisances; and some of another devotee said, “Mahārāja, Śambhu Bābū has come and now he is married. He has accepted a wife.”
Gaura Kiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja said, “Bhāla haila! Bhāla haila! Alright, good, good. He is married now, accepted wife.”
Then he said, “Śambhu Bābū, you should understand, who is your wife? She is Kṛṣṇa’s maidservant. Kṛṣṇa-dāsī, she is vaiṣṇavī. Then it is your duty that you should everyday pay obeisances to her. Yes. She is vaiṣṇavī. And you should take her remnants, yes.” Vaisnava, what we say? Bhakta-śeṣa’ - vaiṣṇavī, bhakta-śeṣa. Mahā-mahā; mahā-prasāda. Yes, mahā-mahā-prasāda.” That is Gaura Kiśora Dāsa Bābājī's instruction.
“You should pay daily obeisances to her because she is vaiṣṇavī. She is kṛṣṇa-dāsī and you shouldn't think that she is to be enjoyed by you. She is to be enjoyed by Kṛṣṇa. And you should accept her remnants.” Yes.
Then one may say, “Oh, I have accepted a wife and I should eat her remnants and serve her and pay her obeisances?”
What Bābājī Mahārāja said? If somebody cannot accept like that, accept the wife as kṛṣṇa-dāsī; only accept her as, “No, she is my maidservant and she has come to serve me and give me enjoyment; especially two of my senses, my tongue and genital,” then he does illicit sex. That is illicit sex. Yes. Then how can you chant? How can you develop bhāgavata-dharma, bhakti-dharma? You cannot. It is great impediment. Yeah.
So this is, then comes sūnā. Then comes sūnā. Dyūtaṁ pānaṁ striyaḥ sūnā. Sūnā means animal killing. You have no right to kill, it’s Kṛṣṇa’s jīva. You cannot give him life then how can you kill him? You have no capacity to give him life, then you have no right to kill him. Yes. Yajña paśu vada, that means yajña. You have to perform yajña. Then a pure Brahmin will come who can utter perfect Veda manta thereby he examines, tests his mantra-śakti. Uttering mantra, he put one animal into the sacrificial fire. Animals left that body, then he will get a new body, he will come out, jump out of from the fire. He gets a new, vigorous, youthful body.
Generally those who are invalid, old animals, in the other yugas, that animal sacrifice was going on. In Kali-yuga it is stopped. Because no such brāhmaṇa is there. Only one yajña is nāma-yajña.
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare
All yajñas stopped because no proper brāhmaṇas are there - kalau sarve śūdra sambhava. If you want to kill an animal then you have to perform yajña thereby he will get new body. The body left, you will eat that flesh. Otherwise you cannot eat.
Where it is? It is such. These are regulative principles. One should follow strictly and accept a bona fide nāma-tattva-vit guru and under his guidance should chant:
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare
Then you will develop pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness, develop kṛṣṇa-prema that Mahāprabhu is offering thereby you can see Kṛṣṇa everywhere. When you see, he is jīva, you must see Kṛṣṇa there, yes.
Kṛṣṇa, Paramātmā is there in Kṛṣṇa’s jīva then how can you kill him? No question of killing, no question of developing enviousness, hiṁsā. Otherwise you cannot stop it, This is the only means, this thing required.
Therefore this Kṛṣṇa consciousness is a boon for all human society. Thus, you understand this, you practice in your life, spread it. Then you'll do real good to human society. Otherwise where is good?
One should understand these confidential purports here. So he should spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness, go out and preach Kṛṣṇa consciousness, bhāgavata-kathā, speak Bhāgavata, what Kṛṣṇa has said. Where there is this, kṛṣṇa-kathā goes on, bhāgavata-kathā goes on, chanting of Holy Name goes on, Kali cannot enter there. The doors are bolted - no fish eating, no meat eating, no gambling, no intoxicant, no illicit sex. How Kali will enter?
Nobody is following strictly; therefore Kali enters into the movement. Why there is quarreling? That is lacking. If hari-kīrtana goes on, where hari-kīrtana, pure kṛṣṇa-kathā goes on, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa appears there.
One who doesn't preach, he is killer of animals. Definitely. Therefore tenth canto Bhāgavata says:
nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād
bhavauṣadhāc chrotra-mano-’bhirāmāt
ka uttamaśloka-guṇānuvādāt
pumān virajyeta vinā paśughnāt
(Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 10.1.4)
Tenth Canto. You have that verse? 10.1.4
Who speaks kṛṣṇa-kathā? Who speaks pure kṛṣṇa-kathā? Nivṛtta-tarṣair upagīyamānād.
“Glorification of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is performed in the paramparā system; that is, it is conveyed from spiritual master to disciple. Such glorification is relished by those who are no longer interested in the false, temporary glorification of this cosmic manifestation. Descriptions of the Lord are the right medicine for the conditioned soul undergoing repeated birth and death. Therefore, who will cease hearing such glorification of the Lord except a butcher or one who is killing his own self?”
Except the butcher! He won’t hear. Yes, vinā paśu. Yes. Otherwise all will be attracted. Kṛṣṇa-kathā is non-different from Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa is all-attractive. If you speak pure kṛṣṇa-kathā, everybody will be attracted, all will be attracted. How he attracted? He (Śrīla Prabhupāda) spoke only pure kṛṣṇa-kathā, He attracted the mlecchas, yavanas, those who are animals, animal killers, drunkards, woman hunters. How they were attracted? Because pure kṛṣṇa-kathā. Kṛṣṇa is all-attractive, His kathā is attractive. If you speak pure kṛṣṇa-kathā, everybody will be attracted. Who will not be attracted except butchers? One who is a butcher, who gets up when Bhāgavata class goes on, definitely he is a butcher. Yes, he is a cruel person.
He kills animals. He says – ‘except the butcher or one who is killing his own self’.
This is medicine, bhava-auṣadhi, medicine for all suffering jīvas, people - hear kṛṣṇa-kathā. This is so nectarean, mano-'bhirāmāt, nectarean bhāgavata, nigama-kalpa-taror galita phala (SB 1.1.3). It is the most ripened, sweetest, nectarean juicy fruit of Vedic tree, coming out from the lips of Śukadeva Gosvāmī who is Rādhārāṇī’s parrot. It has become much sweeter. Relish it! Why are you relishing liquor? Relish this nectar. How sweet it is; how nectarean it is! This is such thing.
And one who is relishing, he speaks. He is free from all desires, nivṛtta-tarṣair, no desire for material enjoyment, no desire for liberation, only how to bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukī tvayi (Cc. Antya-līlā 20.29) - how to develop pure bhakti, unalloyed devotion, love for Kṛṣṇa. Only he can speak kṛṣṇa-kathā. And when such a vaiṣṇava mahā-bhāgavata speaks kṛṣṇa-kathā, premi-bhakta speaks kṛṣṇa-kathā, it will attract everybody! Only a butcher, an animal killer and a killer of his own self will not be attracted.
Therefore these regulative principles Mahāprabhu gave. the bull was representing Dharma. And three legs of the bull were broken. Only one leg was there. That is dharma of Kali-yuga - three legs were broken. Dharma has four legs. What are the four legs? Cleanliness, austerity, mercy, truthfulness - tapasyā, śauca, dayā, satya - These are four legs of dharma.
Tapasyā, austerity; śauca means cleanliness; dayā, mercy and satya, truthfulness. In Kali-yuga, three legs are broken. That means tapasyā, śauca, dayā: austerity, cleanliness, and mercy - these three legs are broken. So mercilessness is going on. Only one leg, satya, is there, that is harināma, this the yuga-dharma. Harināma satya hai; kṛṣṇa-nāma satya hai; rāma-nāma satya hai, isn’t it?
Therefore this harināma is yuga-dharma. In Satya-yuga, four legs were intact. In Kali-yuga, three legs are broken - tapasyā, śauca, dayā; that is austerity, cleanliness and mercy. It is broken. Why it is broken? Because of pride, illicit sex, and this mādaka dravya sevana, intoxication. It is rampant. Because of this, three legs are broken. Only one leg is there.
By pride, everybody in this Kali-yuga thinks himself great, “Hum baḍā hai! I am great!” The other person says, “What? You are great? I am great!” Then fighting begins, quarreling begins, then Kali. This is. One country says, “Hum baḍā hai! I am great!” The other says, “You are great? No, we are great!” Then two countries fight, two nations fight. It is Kali-yuga because everybody thinks he is great. Because of this pride, this austerity, leg broke.
And illicit sex is rampant. Sense gratification, how to satisfy, enjoy the senses is rampant therefore this cleanliness, that leg broke.
And this intoxication. So many varieties of intoxicants, it’s going up, so many big companies are there. What one was saying? Big, big companies give bribe to the government people. So They will allow their thing, thereby people will die.
Toothpaste. Now manufacturers of toothpaste giving bribe to government. Government is facing big problem, great problem. “Oh, population is increasing, increasing, increasing! Big problem for us! They will demand ‘give us employment, employment, employment! Then we have to pay money, unemployment allowance. Big problem!” Then? That company says, “So I have made a nice toothpaste, it is very palatable and I have put poison in it. They will use it, they will die.” Government says, “Very good, you do it.” You see? This is going on.
For this, māda-dravya sevana, for this intoxication, human being become merciless, cruel. That is my question: why a human being becomes cruel? Because of this intoxication. Therefore no intoxication of any sort. No tea, no coffee. what to speak of liquor, gāñjā, marijuana, LSD, strong drugs? Even this betel nut, One should not chew betel nut, These are all are intoxicants. Smoking white flute, because of this, human being becomes merciless. This is the reason.
Therefore these four regulative principles Mahāprabhu gave. Follow strictly, chant ‘Hare Kṛṣṇa’ then you can develop your Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Vena must have been doing that thing. So therefore he has become merciless. Then comes bad son and good son.
Here Prabhupāda says in his purport - it is said that a married couple must have a son, otherwise their family life is void. But a son born without good qualities is as good as a blind eye. A blind eye has no use for seeing, but it is simply unbearably painful. The King therefore thought himself very unfortunate to have such a bad son.
Better to have no son than having such a bad son. Evaṁ vyavāyaḥ prajayā na rateh (Sb. 11.5.13). Bhāgavata says. Why one should marry? Why a man should accept wife or a woman accept husband? Why? What is the purpose? For enjoying sex? No. Evaṁ vyavāyaḥ prajayā na rateh. Only to procreate progeny. This is the purpose of marriage. Produce a vaiṣṇava-putra! That is a good son. That is the purpose of marriage. Don’t produce bastard children, bad son that will give you all pain only, suffering only.
Therefore Aṅga thinks like that. And king Citraketu, who had one crore of wives. He was maintaining one crore of wives because such an opulent king ruling the whole world, all were barren, so no issue. So he was very much distressed. So Aṅgirā Muni came, understood this thing. King says, “This is the reason of my distress. Give me a son.”
Aṅgirā Muni said, “Why you are hankering about it? I might give you but this son will give you both pleasure and also displeasure. Son will come, but he cannot survive. He will die then he will bring you so much distress.”
Who has enemy in the last birth that came as his son. That is all discussed in Śrimad-Bhāgavatam. Unless you produce a vaiṣṇava-putra, don’t marry. The purpose of marriage is not for enjoying sex, no; animals do that. Why a human being will? Evaṁ vyavāyaḥ prajayā na rateh. Bhāgavata says and Bhagavad-gītā says.
balaṁ balavatāṁ cāhaṁ
kāma-rāga-vivarjitam
dharmāviruddho bhūteṣu
kāmo ’smi bharatarṣabha
(Bhagavad-gītā 7.11)
“I am the strength of the strong, devoid of passion and desires. I am sex life which is not contrary to religious principles, O lord of the Bhāratas.”
That sex life is not contradictory to religious principles. What is religious principle? In order to procreate a vaiṣṇava son, good son, one will accept a wife. Otherwise don’t accept. Don’t produce children like pigs
that eat stool only, bastard children. If you want to enjoy sex, if you accept a wife and just produce bastard children, bad sons, they will give you all trouble, all pain. It’s better not to have a son. Only produce a good son, a vaiṣṇava son.
One who has produced a vaiṣṇava son, he is a real father; she is a real mother. Pitā na sa syāt jananī na sā syāt (Sb. 5.5.18) He should not be a father if he is not Kṛṣṇa conscious and cannot inculcate Kṛṣṇa consciousness unto his son or daughter. And mother should be Kṛṣṇa conscious. Mother is the first teacher, jananī na sā syāt - If she cannot inculcate Kṛṣṇa consciousness into her child, she should not produce a child. If she produces a Vaiṣṇava son, she is a real mother.
Śāstra says. Hundreds of children, they all eat stool. Why you produce such children? Bastard children, like Vena, like animals.
kulaṃ pavitraṃ jananī kṛtārthā
vasundharā sā vasatiś ca dhanyā
svarge sthitās tatra pitaro’pī dhanyā
yasyāḥ suto vaiṣṇava-nāma loke
yasyāstī vaiṣṇava-putraḥ putriṇī sa vidhīyate
avaiṣṇava-śata-putrā jananī śūkarī-samā
(Śrī Caitanya-maṅgala Madhya-khaṇḍa 31.163-164)
Śūkarī means she-hog. Who has produced a son who is a Kṛṣṇa conscious son, who is a vaiṣṇava, he is a real father. His married life is successful, yes - he has produced a vaiṣṇava son. And father is glorified, mother is glorified, jananī dhanya because she bore such a son, a vaiṣṇava son.
The whole dynasty of such a son, one son, ekaś candramas tamo hanti na ca tārā-gaṇair api (Hitopadeśa 0.18). If once the moon is there, all darkness is dissipated. Lakhs, lakhs of twinkling stars are there, but they cannot dissipate darkness. Produce one son! A vaiṣṇava son, bhakta-putra! All your dynasty, whole dynasty will be purified, delivered! That says, kulaṃ pavitraṃ jananī kṛtārthā. Then the mother who gave such a vaiṣṇava son is real mother, real mother.
Otherwise she is a she-hog producing hundreds of children. She-hog produces children – but all eat stool.
kulaṃ pavitraṃ jananī kṛtārthā
vasundharā sā vasatiś ca dhanyā
svarge sthitās tatra pitaro’pī dhanyā
yasyāḥ suto vaiṣṇava-nāma loke
Where such a vaiṣṇava son stays, that plot of land or country in the world becomes glorified, yes. Svarge sthitas tatra pitaro 'pi dhanya - those who, his ancestors, forefathers in heavenly planets, they rejoice, “Oh, such a son came in our family!” They all become delivered, you see. They rejoice.
yasyāstī vaiṣṇava-putraḥ putriṇī sa vidhīyate
avaiṣṇava-śata-putrā jananī śūkarī-samā
She is jananī, she is real mother who has produced a vaiṣṇava son. She is glorified, she is a real mother but, she may be producing hundreds of avaiṣṇava-putra, they are like pigs, all eat stool.
This is the purpose of marriage. Thereby, evaṁ vyāvyaḥ prajayā na rateh, only to procreate progeny. That is yajna-putra, good son, that is a vaiṣṇava-putra who can glorify the whole dynasty. His father and mother should be glorified. It is not a fact that only to enjoy sex one will marry. No, that is not the purpose of marriage. That is good son, bad son. It is better having no son like Vena.
The king thought of, “Persons who have no son are certainly fortunate. They must have worshiped the Lord in their previous lives so that they would not have to suffer the unbearable unhappiness caused by a bad son as I have been suffering.”
And Prabhupāda says, “But a son born without good qualities is as good as a blind eye. A blind eye has no use for seeing, but it is simply unbearably painful.”
It is a good son or a bad son. Produce that good son, Otherwise no marriage. No produce. Why marry? Why produce? Only to do sex enjoyment?
And it is vaiṣṇava-ācāra - nāme ruci jīva dayā ei vaiṣṇava ācāra - develop taste for Holy Name and jīva-dayā, develop complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, see the relationship of Kṛṣṇa, he's Kṛṣṇa’s jīva. Then there is dayā. The question of dayā comes. Otherwise, ‘Oh, he is my food.’ You will kill and eat his flesh.
And Vena is killing his playmates like slaughtered animals. “The boy was so cruel that while playing with young boys of his age, he would kill them very mercilessly, as if they were animals meant for slaughter.” A merciless person. And this is because of this intoxication. That is the reason why a human being becomes cruel, merciless. Therefore that is strictly forbidden. No intoxication, no illicit sex, no killing of any animal, no meat eating, no gambling.
Strictly follow, and accept a bona fide guru, nāma-tattva-vit guru. Under his guidance chant pure Name,
hare kṛṣṇa hare kṛṣṇa
kṛṣṇa kṛṣṇa hare hare
hare rāma hare rāma
rāma rāma hare hare
Definitely you will get the mercy of Mahāprabhu and definitely you will get kṛṣṇa-prema therefore you can see Kṛṣṇa is there and see everything related to Kṛṣṇa.
When you can see everything is related to Kṛṣṇa, every jīva is related to Kṛṣṇa, how can you kill him? How can you develop envy for him? No question. Then this will be stopped. Otherwise you cannot stop from this material world unless you spread Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
A tiger, lion, may get a human body. But this opportunity is available now. If you develop Kṛṣṇa consciousness, no more killing there. You develop pure devotion and get Kṛṣṇa, and see kṛṣṇa-sambandha. That is Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And this is a boon. There will be no envy at all! In complete Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he sees kṛṣṇa-sambandha, he is Kṛṣṇa’s jīva who is the object of my love then he will develop love for him. “How could I kill him? How could I develop enviousness?”
This should be done and should be spread thereby in the society an ideal example is provided where there is no envy at all - a society of vaiṣṇavas. Then he will be very, very happy, yes.
“My main purpose is fulfilled.” Very happy, Then that is the real centennial celebration to give him happiness. Do it. Take it as a vow in your life, make a vow, “I must do! Yes, I will give happiness
to Prabhupāda.” Yes.
Alright. Thank you very much.
Śrīla Gour Govinda Mahārāja kī jaya!
Prabhupādajī Mahārājajī ki jaya!
Samaveta bhakta-vṛnda ki jaya!
Gaura premānande! Haribol !
If you are not favored by kṛṣṇa-śakti you cannot do it, spread it. By your own effort, you cannot do it. If somebody, a human being is fortunate he comes and joins and hears this thing and develops pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and cultivates bhāgavata-dharma then he is completely changed. His cruelty will be changed into love for each, all living entities. That story is there of Mṛgāri vyādha how he was changed from a very cruel person by the mercy of Nārada Muni.
